Is Tump Going After A Third Term?
In an interview with NBC this past weekend, President Trump made clear that he is “not joking” about a third term in the White House. Trump said,
“There are methods which you could do it” and “a lot of people want me to.”
Now, this sort of rhetoric is just plain stupid. I’m not sure if Trump is actually serious about this, but it doesn’t really matter. For Trump to gain a third term he would have to jump through some hoops. The main hoop would be abolishing the Constitutional Amendment that limits Presidents to only two terms. To do that he would need either two thirds of Congress or two thirds of the States to call a Constitutional Convention, then he would need three-fourths of the States to ratify the new rule. This is obviously a hail Mary. Trump is most likely not going to get a third term.
The really interesting thing about this story is not actually at all what Trump said but rather the reaction from liberals. They claim he’s a fascist and dictator who only wants power— but the issue with that narrative is twofold. One is that the Democrats have praised President FDR for decades as the greatest President of the 20th century, maybe even the greatest of all time. FDR was literally a power hungry dictator who served four terms in the White House and is responsible for some of the worst policies and programs that Americans are still paying for today. He was a socialist whose goal was for Government to have unchecked power over the economy and people’s lives. We literally have a two-term system for the Presidency because of FDR. But you’ll never hear the Dems call him a Fascist or a Dictator— no, he was God’s gift to this world.
The second issue is that the Democrats have had a functioning three-term President up until Trump was recently elected. That is, Barack Obama. Of course Obama didn’t technically hold the Presidency, but he was pulling the strings behind the Biden Administration for years and is in complete control of the Democrat Party. Do Democrats call Obama a Fascist? Nope.
I suppose having any President continue to take power (even if it’s what the people want) is not a good thing. Allowing for the Republic to run its course is healthy. Think of the Israelites desire for a human king— it was not what God wanted, but it’s deeply embedded in the flesh to want a human king to manufacture a sense of “security”. We know as Christians that no human king, president, emperor, or dictator will satisfy our need for security and safety. I would advise Trump to focus on doing his job right now and not on grasping for more power.
Crossway “updates” the ESV Bible
This is no new story but it’s one that has to be discussed. Crossway, the Christian book publisher and the creator of the ESV Bible, has decided to “update” the ESV translation. I’ll break down one very concerning translation before I get into why the whole idea behind “updating” an already incredible translation is rooted in what philosophers and theologians throughout all time have called “stupidity”.
One example of a verse that was changed is from Genesis 3:16 which, prior to the change, said,
“To the woman he said,
‘I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing;
in pain you shall bring forth children.
Your desire shall be contrary to your husband,
but but he shall rule over you.”’
We all know this one— the one that every liberal church refuses to talk about and the one that predicted the modern feminist movement thousands of years early— the Bible is still undefeated in predicting the future by the way. Anyway, the new translation says this,
“To the woman he said,
‘I will surely multiply your pain in childbearing;
in pain you shall bring forth children.
Your desire shall be for your husband,
and and he shall rule over you.”’
Do you spot the difference? Instead of saying that a woman’s desire will be contrary her husband it says that the woman’s desire will be for her husband. Now, technically I don’t think there is anything wrong here as far as word for word translation goes. That said, the ESV has never claimed to be a word for word, NASB-type of translation. Rather the ESV is certainly focused on accurate word for word translation but is willing to change things to allow for the biblical concept to make itself clear in difficult passages. This passage is one of them— the biblical reality is that God makes it so that woman desires to rule over her husband which is contrary to their complimentary created hierarchy. All the new translation does is add ambiguity and confusion to the direct reading of a passage.
So, why is this all a problem? The ESV Translation Oversight Committee chose to change 68 words within the ESV Bible. These changes assume that the earlier versions were not sufficient for literal and Biblical interpretation and I will concede that no translation is perfect other than the originals in their original languages, and that some translations will need to be changed on occasion. But, like everything else in 2025, right now is not the time for elitist intervention. The elite class in the United States is unbelievably corrupt and the evangelical elite class is among the most corrupt of all the elite classes.
Let’s just think through this for a moment. A new generation is making its way into church leadership across the board. Look at Desiring God who, in 2024, announced a new CEO, Marshall Segal— the son of Richard Segal, Vice President of Advancement at Bethlehem College and Seminary and a person who is highly involved at Desiring God. Crossway itself recently announced their new CEO, Josh Dennis, whose dad was the previous CEO of the company. See a pattern here? The interesting thing about Josh is that, at the time of his confirmation into his role as CEO, he did not have the required credentials for the job. He didn’t even have his MDiv, but others at Crossway in lower-level positions are expected to have theirs. Add to that that Dr. J.I. Packer died in 2020 and he oversaw the translation of the ESV and you get a recipe for millennial liberal disaster!
This all plays into the institutional destruction within Evangelical Christian communities in America— they are dead set on total destruction both theologically and ethically. Is anyone questioning why both Marshall Segal and Josh Dennis had to have significant family connections to get their jobs? Do we know how many qualified and competent people were passed up? This is a result of credentialism, which is the opposite of meritocracy. Millennials love it because they have no merit.
Everything just seems really corrupt and gross right now in Christian circles and changing an ESV translation to make things more confusing and ambiguous is right on par with where the millennials are taking the church.
Trump is getting pissed at Putin!
This is going to be interesting. President Trump announced on Sunday that he’s “very angry” and “pissed off” at the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin because at this point, he hasn’t had any luck making a deal to stop the bloodshed in Ukraine. So, because Trump is mad, he is threatening a 25% oil tariff on Russia.
If I’m being honest, I’m not sure how this is going to play out. It seems like the attempt to end the war in Ukraine has been mostly a failure. Ukraine has made some really stupid mistakes in all of this (like Zelensky’s little tempter tantrum at the White House) and Russia, during the Biden Administration, was pushed too far by the West and is not interested in negotiating with people who want to put nuclear weapons on their border.
Trump throwing a 25% oil tariff at Russia sounds like we’re going to be in a deep cold war with Russia in about five seconds. Especially because Russia has proved through this war that they can self-sustain. But can America? I’m not sure. It seems doubtful as we’ve shipped all of our industry out to China— Russia’s ally. My fear going into the Trump administration was not that Trump would be a bad President, it was that so much damage had been done throughout the Biden Administration that nobody could clean up and restore that level of corruption and stupidity.
The interesting thing is that it actually looks like these tariffs worked. On Monday the Kremlin announced that they’ll be working with the United States to create a peace deal with Ukraine. This is good news and maybe, just maybe is some proof that the most beautiful word in the english language is “tariff”.
Are your toddlers transphobic?
The Telegraph reported that a toddler was kicked out of a nursery for being transphobic. You may be asking yourself how a toddler could be transphobic. Good question— nobody knows. In fact, you may be asking yourself how anyone could be transphobic, especially if you understand that the word transphobic literally means a fear of transgender people. Who on Earth is afraid of people who can’t figure out what gender they are? I’m not— I know nobody who actually is.
But, to be completely honest, there may be one group of people that should be afraid of trans people— toddlers. But the issue is that toddlers have much more important things to be thinking about like what toys they’re going to play with, how to get out of nap time, and how to get another snack— not transgenderism (as much as the left wants toddlers to be thinking about that).
This story is bittersweet. The fact that a toddler was kicked out of a nursery for transphobia shows how sick and demented these “teachers” are. Kicking a five year old out of nursery? Seriously? The sweet part is that the child should never have been shipped off to a nursery anyway— maybe this will be a wakeup call to this child’s parents to do their actual job: raise their child. And this should be a clear message to all common sense, logical, and reasonable people: stop shipping your kids off to the intellectual Auschwitz!
Wisconsin had a rough week
As most of you know, on Tuesday, April 1st, there was a big election in Wisconsin (my home state). On the ballot were two major decisions Wisconsinites were faced with: one being the choice between Brad Schimel and Susan Crawford for a ten-year Supreme Court justice position and the other being a referendum on whether or not an ID should be required to vote on election day. You know— an ID, like the ones you have to use to buy beer or a cigar.
You may be like me and think to yourself that these are no brainer decisions. Of course we don’t want Susan Crawford on the Wisconsin Supreme Court as Christians! She’s pro-murdering babies, she’s pro-transgenderism, she’s pro-illegal immigration, the list goes on and on— she’s a liberal for goodness sake. But, despite the fact that she’s a Marxist lunatic, she won this race decidedly; 55% to 45%. I had a lot to say about this election, you check out my reaction here.
But this election gets weirder. Even though the majority of Wisconsinites chose to vote for a progressive sociopath on the Supreme Court, they also voted in favor of requiring ID to vote on election day going forward (a more conservative position). So let’s look at the data: in 2022 Tony Evers (D) beat Tim Michels by 5 points to become the Governor of WI. In 2024 Donald Trump won Wisconsin by 1%. And now, in 2025, Crawford beat Schimel by 10 points but the ID requirement was passed. What on earth is going on? Personally, I think Wisconsin will be Minnesota in the next decade. Hollowed out by liberal policy and on its way to full and complete authoritarian control— stealing kids from parents and slaughtering babies after they’re born. You would think Christians in this state would speak up about it, right? Nope. They remain cowards and bend the to the liberal regime like good little boys. I hope their conscience torments them at night.
What to read…
This week we have to shift gears away from abstract theological thinking to practical theological living. Of course, the two forms of thought should never be divorced; theology is abstract and practical. Due to the Wisconsin election, I’m recommending people read a book called, The Story of Abortion in America, by Marvin Olasky and Leah Savas. This is one of the most important books that has ever been written in the history of this country. That is not an exaggeration. Abortion in America is the greatest immoral act any civilization has ever produced in world history. We have slaughtered millions and millions of babies— sacrificing them to the whims of our own selfish and pathetic desires. It’s really a tragedy. This book explains this dynamic in great detail— it gives a street level view of legal abortion cases going all the way back to 1652, providing letters, conversations, and legal proceedings all related to the problem of abortion. It’s truly a difficult read, but one that every person in America should read (especially those who are sympathetic to murdering babies). It spans the timeframe of 1652-2022 in America. You will read of women who were raped and murdered while pregnant and how, in early America, Christians would prosecute those evil men taking advantage of women. You will also read about how abortion has become a multi-million dollar industry meant to murder black babies and end the lives of countless others across our nation. If you have the guts to face the truth (many Christians do not), I suggest you face this truth in this book; the truth that America has blood on its hands, and Christians must stand in opposition to this at all costs.
