A New Pope Has Been Chosen.
Trump is done with Benjamin Netanyahu.
It’s been reported that President Donald Trump has cut off all communications with Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu. According to Trump, Netanyahu had an arrogant attitude and was getting too used to trying to push him around. The interesting thing about both Netanyahu and Zelenskyy is that both of their countries rely heavily on American money and military equipment and yet both of them apparently feel very comfortable trying to bully us into doing their will.
My guess is that many world leaders are used to manipulating and pushing American leaders around because of the liberal and effeminate bent our society has taken on. Many politicians will bend over backwards to steal American taxpayers money to send it over to Ukraine, China, Israel, and Europe — literally every place on earth that is not the United States of America. They do this because they hate this country. Trump does not hate this country and if his care for our people and our dignity means that Netanyahu has to learn a lesson about respect, so be it. I am not anti-Israel, but I am anti-entitlement. I would hope that Netanyahu can learn from this mistake and restore proper relations with America, but American money does not belong to Israel and American support does not automatically belong to Israel either.
Christians should hope that this can be sorted out for the sake of the Jews in Israel. We are called to bless Israel and hope for their good despite the fact that they reject Christ (something the Woke Right cannot understand).
A new Pope has been chosen.
On Thursday afternoon, the Catholic Church announced its brand new Pope, Robert Prevost, from Chicago, IL. This came as a bit of a surprise to many as Pope Leo is the first Pope to come from the United States of America. Now, as you know, I don’t care much for the office of the Pope because I am a staunch Protestant and, because of that, I think the Pope is an antichrist. That may come as a surprise to those of you who are neck deep in the liberal theology of Gavin Ortlund and his colleagues (basically every theologian who’s between 25 and 50 years old).
Earlier this year Gavin made a YouTube video called “Are Catholics Christians? Why Protestants Can Say YES.” I won’t link to it because I don’t want to condone false teaching and heresy. But Gavin’s entire point was that there are not major ecumenical differences between the Catholic and Protestant churches and that, throughout church history, every single theologian (besides Gavin, OBVIOUSLY!) really just misunderstood each other on the doctrine of justification. This is obviously a false reading of Protestant history and a lie as the most prominent theologians in the history of the Protestant church thought most Catholics were not Christians and that the Pope was the antichrist. People like Martin Luther, John Calvin, Charles Spurgeon, John Owen, and the like. So, instead of praising the new antichrist, I’ll take you down memory lane where we can look at some of the quotes from the great theologians in church history on the Pope.
Charles Spurgeon:
"Of all the dreams that ever deluded men and of all the blasphemies that ever were uttered, there has never been one which is more absurd then the idea that the Bishop of Rome, the Pope, is the head of the Church of Jesus Christ. No, these Popes die, and how could the Church live if its head were dead? The true Head ever lives and the Church ever lives in Him."
Martin Luther:
“I feel much freer now that I am certain the pope is the Antichrist.”
John Calvin:
“Some persons think us too severe and censorious when we call the Roman pontiff Antichrist. But those who are of this opinion do not consider that they bring the same charge of presumption against Paul himself, after whom we speak and whose language we adopt… I shall briefly show that (Paul’s words in II Thess. 2) are not capable of any other interpretation than that which applies them to the Papacy.”
John Owen:
“I am persuaded that there is no one duty that God requires at the hands of the sons of men, which hath more opposition made unto it by corrupt affections, than this of bearing witness to His truth, and against the errors of the church of Rome, that mother of abominations, and her pretended supreme head, the pope, that man of sin.”
If you’re a fan on the equivocating liars at Christianity Today, TGC, and Truth Unites (Ortlund’s YouTube channel), you may want to continue to turn a blind eye. But the reality is this: we don’t actually need to make appeals to great theologians in church history to see that Christ alone is the head of the church — His Word does that for us.
Iran has a 2,500 acre nuclear site.
According to FOX News, Iran has a massive nuclear site that was just found via satellite. As I’ve said in earlier newsletters, Iran is not a country that we want to have nuclear capacities. According to FOX, this site has been operating for over a decade. How are we just finding this out now? I have no idea. Vice President JD Vance said however that negotiations with Iran are going well.
My take is the same as it was before — we cannot let Islamic countries have nuclear weapons. Their religious ideology makes them completely incapable of managing such weapons. If Iran is funding and providing weaponry for proxy wars with Israel, by helping Hamas, there is no way on earth that these people should be allowed to have nuclear weapons. But we’ll have to keep our eye on these negotiations going forward.
Trump negotiates ceasefire between India and Pakistan.
Early Saturday morning President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that,
“After a long night of talks mediated by the United States, I am pleased to announce that India and Pakistan have agreed to a FULL AND IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE,”
This is a good thing no matter what side of the aisle you’re on. The big problem with having India and Pakistan at war is that both countries have nuclear weapons that can wipe out millions of people. The urgency to negotiate a ceasefire in these heated situations is incredibly important.
Later on Saturday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that India and Pakistan were “to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site.” This all took place after both Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance spent two days brokering a deal between the two countries. Both countries have announced the agreement as well.
This all begs the question: why wasn’t the Biden Administration able to make a deal similar to this one at the beginning of the Russia and Ukraine war? It seems to me that, despite the disagreements many have with the Trump administration, they have been effective in ending conflicts and managing deals between hostile countries. No war is a good thing in most cases, this is one of them. We should be thankful for this deescalation.
What to read…
This week I want to recommend a theological book written by, in my opinion, the best living theologian, Dr. Vern Poythress. In his book, Making Sense of Man, Dr. Poythress builds out a 700 page comprehensive look into the meaning and purpose of man from a Biblical perspective. He tackles issues related to the soul, spirit, and body, he discusses human sexuality, what it means to be made in the image of God, and many other complicated and important theological issues related to the doctrine of man. This book comes at a perfect time when many people in the Western church are losing their ability to articulate the purpose of human life and the significance of human life. This inability has led many Christians to ignore the dignity of life and has led even more into despair and hopelessness. Making Sense of Man is an incredible look into the doctrine of man that gives hope and encouragement to people who feel lost. I seriously recommend you read it. If you want to know more about the book, here is a podcast I did with Vern on this book several months ago.
